100 years of Leica: Witness to a Century (1925-2025)
In 2025, Leica Camera AG is celebrating the 100th anniversary of the Leica I. First presented to the public at the Leipzig Spring Fair in 1925, it was the first 35mm camera to be mass-produced and exceeded all expectations.
The subsequent journey was not only characterized by milestones in photography, but also by a transformation from a pure manufacturer to a global retailer. Leica Camera AG and its international subsidiaries now operate and manage around 100 stores in 29 countries.
In the Leica Stores, customers experience what the Leica motto "The Essentials" means: it stands for exceptional consulting expertise, valuable services and a portfolio of innovative premium products and creative tools for achieving the best possible image results.
